Ingredients for Soya Chaap Recipe

Ingredients For Marinade

4 soya chaap sticks

1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste

1 teaspoon of red chili powder

½ tsp. turmeric powder

½ teaspoon salt or to taste

2 tablespoons curd or yogurt


Ingredients for Tomato Paste


1 cup chopped tomato

1 tablespoon garlic cloves

1 tablespoon ginger, chopped

4 Kashmiri red dried chilies

¼ cup hot water


Ingredients for Gravy


6 tablespoons Cooking oil

1 bay leaf (Tej Patta)

4 green cardamom (elaichi)

1 black cardamom (badi elaichi)

1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)

1 Cup finely chopped onion

1 ¼ teaspoon salt or to taste

1 teaspoon of red chili powder

1 teaspoon of turmeric powder

1 teaspoon of coriander powder

1 cup water, at room temperature

1 teaspoon Garam Masala

1 tablespoon dried fenugreek leaves (Kasuri methi)

2 tablespoons of chopped fresh coriander

Instructions for Soya Chaap Recipe

1. Gently remove the Soya Chaap from the sticks. Cut the chaap into bite-sized oval or round pieces and marinate the chaap with curd, salt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, and turmeric powder. Mix to coat each piece with the marinade seasoning. Set aside for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

2. Heat 4 tbsp Cooking oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, fry the soya chaap until crisp and golden on both sides. Transfer the fried soya chaap to a bowl and keep it aside.

3. Add tomatoes, ginger, garlic, Kashmiri red chilies, and hot water to a blender and make a smooth paste. Keep it aside.

4. Heat the remaining oil in the same pan, add green cardamom, black cardamom, and bay leaves and fry for 40 to 50 seconds until fragrant. Then add onion and fry until golden.

5. Add red chili powder, tomato paste, turmeric, and coriander powder. Fry on low heat till the oil separates from the masala, add 1 cup of water to make gravy. Allow the curry to simmer on low heat until the sauce thickens.

6. Add the fried soya chaap, mix, and simmer the curry again, covered, for 5 minutes. so that chops absorb the flavor of the gravy.

7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. and Serve with chapati or rice
