Turkey Burgers are one of the most popular types of, burgers. It comprises ground turkey, rolled oats, herbs, and spices, and can be topped with vegetables and sauce. Many people love a turkey burger because it's leaner than beef and has fewer calories. It's also a good source of protein, iron, zinc, and vitamins B12 and E. In addition, it's a good source of healthy fats like omega-3s and CLA. A turkey burger is a healthier alternative to beef burgers.

Turkey Burger recipe

Ingredients for Turkey Burger

  • 2 pounds white meat ground turkey
  • 2 pounds dark meat ground turkey
  • 1 Poblano pepper
  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper
  • 10 brioche or gluten-free buns, sliced in half
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • 10 slices of beefsteak tomatoes 
  • 10 slices of red onion
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil
  • 2/3 jalapeno, seeded and minced
  • Butter lettuce leaves, for serving
  • Suggested toppings: mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup

Directions for Turkey Burger recipe

Steps 1

Grill the poblano with tongs on the stove until the skin is blackened. Place in a paper or plastic bag and set aside for 10 minutes to cool.

Remove the seeds and skin from the poblano under running water, then dice.

Steps 3

Add the light and dark meat ground turkey to a bowl. Add jalapeno, poblano, pepper, and salt. Drizzle in olive oil and mix together. Shape the mixture into 10 to 12 patties.

Heat a grill pan or grill to medium-high and cook the burgers until golden on the outside, about 5 minutes per side. Toast the buns on the grill until golden brown, a few minutes.

Steps 5

Serve the burgers in the buns with sliced red onion, tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise, mustard,  and ketchup.
